Once again the AES Hamburg Student Section organised the klingt gut! symposium with great success. For this year's symposium, sound artists, musicians, engineers and acousticians, students and professionals came to Hamburg from Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Macedonia, Netherlands, Norway, Serbia, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the USA, and assembled at the Arts and Media Campus of the University of Applied Sciences (HAW). The three days from 8th until 10th of June 2017 were packed with lots of exciting programs, ranging from lectures, hands-on workshops, tutorials, technical tours and interactive panel discussions to cutting edge sonic art exhibitions including fixed-media presentations, installations and live performances at Germany's most state-of-the-art media campus.
The hot topics for this year's klingt gut! included but were not limited to: 3D and immersive audio, film sound design, audio for 360° video, VR and AR, electro-acoustic music and sound art, with distinguished guests like Barry Truax, David Claringbold, Sue Harding, Ralph Kessler and Michael Williams, among many others.
Beside keynote speeches, lectures and tutorials, showrooms, sound art exhibition, performances and sound design workshops, the newly established 34.2 3D Audio system of the Sound Lab of the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg was one of the highlights in this year's event. Participants were able to experience selected artworks presented in various immersive formats at the heart of the Sound Lab. Furthermore, the klingt gut! Student Awards were awarded for outstanding sound art and scientific contributions. The social evening with live music, beer and barbecue brought attendants and visitors together for relaxed chats.
We especially would like to thank our generous sponsors from Audient, Audio Technica, d&b Audiotechnik, Hardy's Stage Equipment, KS Digital, macom, Microtech Gefell, Neumann & Müller, Pinguin Audio Engineering, PreSonus, Schneider's Laden, Steinberg, XI Machines, Yamaha, and Zeigermann Audio for their support to this event.
And we would love to announce that klingt gut! 2018 will take place on June 7th - 9th 2018, and we hope to see you in Hamburg!
