Summary

In a regular meeting in May, as "AES historical session in Japan #1", Japan section welcomed three people as lecture,who have achieved a great deal of contribution in the past 60 years of professional audio history in Japan as well as to the world.
At the beginning from Mr, Bike Suzuki, as a moderator, milestone of 60 years of Japan section history were introduced along with photos and overview of achievements, whitepapers in Convention and Conference.
Mr, Sam Toyoshima presented his experience and achievements in designing studio acoustic both in domestic and overseas along with bunch of photos. Studio acoustic design work at Abbey Road Seemed a quite challenging for him to work with their studio manager.
In Addition, he emphasized the importance of skills to communicate with people from different counties; Language. It was story that is told thousands of time to Japanese engineers yet a meaningful.
Mr, Mick Sawaguchi told development of surround sound format and his tremendous contributions establishment of production surround recording inJapan.
Mick has shared his experience and challenges that he went through in order to build a surround mixing studio, along with an importance of connecting with sound engineers overseas.
His challenge is ongoing. His enthusiasm to Hi-Res Surround music production was a precious story to hear for younger generations to know how important it is to keep stretching yourself beyond your comfort zone. At Last, We listened to 192K•suuround recording that is his latest work as a demonstratioin.
Mr. Anazawa talked about Development of digital audio in Japan. Besides he has introduced history of Sound recording walked through from the age of analog recordings to digital recording today along with a untold story of the development of recording equipment that was required at that time.
In addition, Mr. Anazawa has summarized, technology system statistics analysis report to the National Science Museum, which were distributed to participants afterwards.
It was good to know how the transition of equipment was made.
Although the amount of time that were allowed per person was not sufficient, as short as 30 minutes, the sesssiion theme was very interesting and meaningful.
Q&A and social hour was held in later time which also played an important role to have more conversations to speakers.
