Speaker Name: John Newton & Staff - Sound Mirror
Meeting Location: Sound Mirror, Boston MA
The May meeting of the Boston Section of the Audio Engineering Society was hosted by Sound Mirror on May 13, 2014. The event titled "Life On the Bleeding Edge" featured presentations in three different rooms of the facility by multi Grammy-wining engineers John Newton, Mark Donahue, Jesse Brayman, along with Blanton Alspaugh and Dirk Sobotka with assistance by Alexis Price.
The focus of each presentation was to discuss and experience high resolution DSD recording and post production. To highlight the sonic superiority and complete postproduction capabilities of the DSD format the staff showed three different types of post work in each of its studios. Examples ranged from orchestral recording, editing and mixing to mix to picture to mastering.
