Boston AES Meeting - Feb. 2013 Thurs. Feb. 7, 2013 - In a joint meeting with the Greater Boston Chapter of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), the Boston Section of the Audio Engineering Society hosted a meeting titled "An Evening at The Record Company". The Record Company (TRC) is a non-profit organization committed to education in the recording arts and independent record-making. The recording studio features a large live room, several isolation booths, and a spacious control room. TRC Board Members Matt McArthur, Susan Rogers and Andy Carballeira presented an overview of the organization's history and mission, as well as a walking tour and technical discussion centered around building a recording studio on a real-world budget. After the discussion the attendees were brought down to the first floor where construction is currently underway that will serve as an administrative and community center for the organization, while also housing a second, smaller recording studio. Matt McArthur is Executive Director of The Record Company, earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Production and Engineering from Berklee College of Music. Matt founded The Record Company in 2009. Susan Rogers, Ph.D is President of The Record Company, earned her doctorate in Cognitive Psychology from McGill University. Susan is currently an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music where she teaches record production, audio engineering, psychoacoustics, and music cognition. Andy Carballeira is Director of The Record Company, earned a Bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music in Music Production and Engineering. Andy is currently on the faculty at Berklee College of Music and New England Institute of Art, where he teaches courses in acoustics and mathematics.
