Our meeting began with a summary of the 2nd annual section meeting. At this 2nd annual meeting, dinner was provided followed by a brief introduction of the new officers of the 2008 year and recognition of our various sponsors and supporters. A musical jam session soon followed. We concluded overall that this meeting was a success. We then moved onto the topic of meeting near a resteraunt near the site of the AES convention. We all agreed on meeting at Jillians on Saturday 10/4. We then began to brainstorm ideas for future meetings including guest speakers and events. Ideas included (but were not limited to) recording studio tours, radio station tours, workshops, and having an audio forensics speaker from the FBI speak to the group. We then conducted a show and tell where people in the group brought by various items that they used in the industry. Joe Dvagony brought a guitar that he made himself. This guitar was made of engleman spruce, coa wood and dyed maple. This guitar had an interesting timbre which sounded like a cross between a guitar and a Ukulele. Dr. Chen then used a recording of a piano from many perspectives to demonstrate his skillful use of ambisonics. Dan Alexander demonstrated his Senheiser mics, which he used for recording audio while filming. John McCormic then talked about and demonstrated his new pre-amp design that he had been working on.
