Stereo-Width Control Based on Creation of Virtual Sound Field

A new stereo-width control system is proposed. The
authors approach was to create a virtual sound field in
the recording side, not phantom sources in the reproduc-tion
side. The main process of the proposed system is
signal-dependent spectral modification under the frame-work
of analysis/modification/synthesis. Listening tests
indicated it offers good performance.
