Mike Wisland got his Masters in Digital Signal Processing so he could learn how to restore his Spike Jones record collection (no, really). He has since amassed all of Spike's commercially released recordings, along with many rare recordings seldom heard, some of which he will play during this presentation of one of the wackiest, precise, and well-polished band that ever existed, Spike Jones and the City Slickers. This is a brief history of Spike's Life and music.
Mike graduated magna cum lard-head from the University of Missouri at Rolla sometime in the last century, and is currently teaching at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah in the Digital Media Dept. The SpikeJones.org website has been a student-based project has been in development for over a decade - photo and audio transcription and restoration, web design, database development, and Videos - all a playground for 3 and 4th year students to do something useful while crafting their skills.
