Dave Foster runs Swing City Music, a boutique company that has been helping artists get their music from conception to the page since 2006. Clients include Max Richter (Mary Queen of Scots, Vivaldi Recomposed), Craig Armstrong (Bridget Jones's Baby, Far From The Madding Crowd), Murray Gold (Doctor Who, Life Story), Hybrid (Light of the Fearless, Interlude in Prague), Joby Talbot (Sing, Burke & Hare) and Bob Ezrin (Peter Gabriel, U2, Andrea Bocelli).
After studying at the Guildhall School of Music, Dave got his break with top London copying house Dakota Music, for whom he continues working as a freelancer. There, he learned his trade working on a huge variety of projects, including Hollywood blockbusters, West End Shows and Grammy winning albums. Dave is a master transcriber of music, and is regularly commissioned to produce note-for-note reconstructions of big band, film and symphonic music from the original recordings.
In recent years, Dave has cultivated a parallel career in audio software development, creating custom applications and solutions for his own business and others. This was formalised by studying for a MSc in Sound and Music Computing with the C4DM at Queen Mary University. He is fluent at developing for MacOS / iOS (Objective C / Swift), audio plugins (C++ / JUCE), prototyping in MATLAB / Python and machine learning / neural networks.
