Michael Weitnauer

Michael Weitnauer joined IRT as Audio Research Engineer in 2011. His current research activities include the development and introduction of object-based audio as the new audio standard for media production and consumption. Besides audio coding algorithms and web audio technologies he is also engaged in spatial audio recording and in the improvement of speech intelligibility for hearing impaired people. He is coordinating IRT’s activities in the EU funded project ORPHEUS that deals with the introduction of object-based audio for the broadcast community in Europe. Moreover, Michael Weitnauer is also active member and chair of standardization activities from ITU-R, EBU and DVB Next Generation Audio subgroups.
