Leonardo Soria

Leonardo Soria was born in Bari (IT), on 5/5/1970. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1997 from Politecnico di Bari. His final dissertation regarded the shifting dynamics of CVT transmissions. In 2000 he won the PhD scholarship and received the PhD degree in 2003, from Politecnico di Bari, with research concerning the role of Multibody System Dynamics in the functional design of mechanical devices.
Since January 2004, he has been serving as assistant professor in “Engineering Mechanics” at Politecnico di Bari. He is the head of the Noise and Vibration Laboratory (NVLab) of DMMM (Dipartimento di Meccanica, Matematica e Management).
The main research interests are in the field of Noise and Vibration Engineering.
He is co-author of overall 40 publications, including 10 international journal papers and has served as reviewer for several international journals.
The teaching activity is spent on the courses of “Engineering Mechanics”, “Vibrating Mechanical Systems”, and “Noise and Vibration Control”.
He has been member of the research staff of several research projects funded by MIUR, the Italian Ministry for the Education, University and Research (2 PRIN projects, 1 project aimed at the establishment of a Center of Competence on Transportation - MIT, 2 PON projects), and by the Apulia Region Administration (2 Explorative and 2 Strategic projects and 1 project aimed at the establishment of a lab network - EMILIA). Specifically, in the case of Strategic and EMILIA projects he has been the coordinator for several research lines.
He is / has been involved in several national and international cooperation activities with research groups belonging to other universities and industrial partners.
