I'm a composer and sound designer. This combination of music and sound has always been the leitmotiv that has led me to build my professional career. I've always tried to join these two elements as the main resources to tell a story, or to increase the impact of a story. And I've tried to approach every project from this special point of view: an intimate relationship between music and sound effects, ambiences, dialogues, etc., to create a complete sound narration. I've worked for more than 20 years in projects for Universal Music, TVE, Lotus Films, Nickel Odeon Dos, Flamenco Vivo Records, Acciona Producciones y Diseño, Hall Academy of Media Arts, Fundación Barenboim or Cámara Negra Teatro.
I obtained my PhD in Communication from the University of Seville and also studied music at Superior Conservatoire of Seville and Electroacoustic Music at University of Quilmes (Argentina). I received the “Network Research Award” from Telefonica Foundation for my doctoral thesis on Film Sound Design. I'm currently Associate Dean at Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, and professor in Education and Communication at Universidad Loyola Andalucía. I have also held the position of lecturer at the University of Seville, the University Ramón Llull (Barcelona), Universidad Iberoamericana (IBERO, Mexico) and the National University of Quilmes (Argentina).
My passion on music and sound, and specially the emotional impact that they have on the listener and on media audiences has led me to undertake my research in two areas. The first is focused on music and sound creation and perception in media (music and sound design for audiovisual and interactive products, surround sound perception, emotions generation through sound and virtual audio/music technologies). The second area of research is centered on music education and child development through music.
