Cesar Portillo is a sound artist and engineer with a background in post production and immersive sound. After graduating from SAE Institute, with a degree in sound engineering, Portillo is now innovating and implementing 3D immersive sound features through international, award-winning film productions.
Portillo is a strong believer that audio-visual mediums should be accessible to all audiences. His recent work embraces inclusive audio approaches by using sound as a language to make visual media accessible and experiential for all audiences.
"Sound not only feeds our hearing and imagination but also our immersion". Through Portillo’s innovations in sound design, he provides the option for blind and visually impaired audiences to fully immerse themselves in visual stories; transcending the current limitations of accessibility on audio visual mediums.
Portillo’s current research interests are in immersive sound applications, auditory perception, spatial audio and improving accessibility.
