Rafael Duyos is Co-founder and CEO of DSpatial, a Barcelona based immersive company.
In the 80's, as an audio engineer at SONY PROCOM Barcelona, he pioneered the transition from analog to digital.
Rafael is a designer of audio hardware and software, and in 1997 filed a patent for a 24 channel 3D immersive audio system. Since then he has tirelessly investigated and worked in the field of immersive sound.
He is also music composer and producer of hundreds of soundtracks for film and TV commercials. He has recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra seven times and in 1991 made the first ever simultaneous recording of the LSO and a choir in two different cities: London and Barcelona.
After 10 years of continuous technological development his latest venture is DSpatial, a hyper-realistic system for sound creation and production based on physical modeling and Spatial Objects. Other than increasing the immersive sound quality, DSpatial permits the unification of film, broadcast, and VR/AR formats into one unique platform for content creation.
Among users of DSpatial are Mark Mangini and Ron Bartlett who have recently used DSpatial in the mixing and sound design of the blockbuster film Blade Runner 2049.
