Andrew Stern, CBNE is a Broadcast & FOH Engineer for the Cumulus San Francisco Bay Area radio station group (KNBR, KFOG, KGO, KSFO, KSAN, KTCT, sports, news) where he’s worked at the intersection of broadcast & IT for the past decade. His areas of expertise run the gamut of daily studio and fully IP Audio-based large cluster radio station operation. Most recently he’s assisted with the construction of the Cumulus Chicago radio cluster in the NBC Tower.
Andrew’s technical specialties include studio operation, real-time networking for AoIP, FOH and live sound recording, remote radio broadcast & recording, high profile sports remotes (Super Bowl, World Series, etc), VoIP and SIP trunking, TDM & circuit-based telephony, professional enterprise networking, microwave data links, satellite downlinking, MPEG audio standards and codecs, radio automation, HD radio transmission, even security cameras and keycards!
For his radio group performance space he has recently run FOH and live sound for The Wild Feathers, Declan McKenna, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Passenger, Train (performing Led Zeppelin 2), Steve Earle, The Struts, Brett Dennen, Andrew Bird, The Record Company, The Avett Brothers, Pete Yorn, Jake Bugg, Cheap Trick, and many more.
A graduate of San Francisco State University, Andrew holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast and electronic communications arts. He is currently a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers and carries professional networking certification.
