AES Member Type: Life Member
Dan Mortensen has owned and operated Dansound Inc., a sound reinforcement company, for 42 years in Seattle, WA. He specializes in the naturalistic reproduction of acoustic music, and for the last 34 years has primarily relied on various products from Meyer Sound to do so.
His Audio IP expertise, such as it is, has been driven by a need to have the Behringer X32 and XR18 series of digital mixing consoles be controllable under all conditions both wired and wirelessly.
He has been married for 32 years and has two self-supporting adult children.
A long-time AES member, he has been five-time Chair of the Pacific Northwest Section as well as Vice-Chair, Treasurer, or Committee member over 25 years.
He is clearly in a rut, except for the last two years has been learning how to edit video and has a small but growing variety of audio-related videos on his YouTube channel DansoundSeattle, including some relevant to this session.
And for the last three years, he has been the Spark Plug for the Friends of the 30th St. Studio, which is an organization he founded to remember and explore the history of CBS Records' wonderful studio where dozens if not hundreds of classic songs and albums were recorded, as well as the work and history of the dozens of people whose achievements we treasure today. Ask him about it and he'll tell you as much as you want to hear.
