Shane Myrbeck is a sound artist and architectural acoustics designer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Shane’s art work explores the visceral and immersive nature of sound through spatial audio systems, architectural form and multi-sensory phenomena. His work has been exhibited at the World Science Festival, the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, Fort Mason Center, Gray Area Foundation for the Arts, California Academy of Sciences, Huntington Gardens, Proxy, the Hosfelt Gallery, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, IBM Tokyo and on the streets of San Francisco. Recent residencies include San Francisco’s Exploratorium and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. As a senior acoustics and audiovisual consultant at Arup, Shane offers expertise in room acoustics, interactive and multisensory installation design, electroacoustic systems and 3D auralization. He is a technical lead for Arup's SoundLab, an immersive 3D sound studio used for composing and simulating sonic environments. As an experienced project manager, he leads teams for both the Acoustics and Audiovisual disciplines in a variety of sectors. He specializes in clear communication and distillation of complicated abstract ideas.
