Brett Crockett
Vice President, Sound Technology R&D
As Vice President, Sound Technology R&D, Brett Crockett leads the groups responsible for research and development of the breakthrough and next-generation audio and surround sound technologies for which Dolby is widely recognized. He leads Dolby’s San Francisco, Sydney, Beijing, Barcelona, and Stockholm R&D groups, and coordinates activities between sound technology business development and sales and marketing groups to keep technology research and development focused on the end user. In addition, Brett actively participates in formulating corporate business, technology, and standards strategies.
Brett started at Dolby in 1997 as Senior Staff Engineer. Prior to joining Dolby, he worked in the research and development departments at TRW ESL and at Applied Signal Technology, both in Sunnyvale, where he was responsible for creating cutting-edge telecommunications technologies for voice and data systems.
Brett has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is a member of and frequent paper reviewer and convention session chair for the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).
