Steven has a PhD in New Music Interfaces and is currently Assistant Professor at Aalborg University Copenhagen. Here he is working on new user interfaces for mixing music. Here he explores different types of interaction for stereo and 3D sound mixing.
Through his research he has developed several new interfaces for mixing audio, for instance by positioning sound-blocks on a 2D surface for volume, panning and depth - or using haptic feedback mid-air devices for positioning and manipulating audio channels in 3D.
His research focus is very much on the controller and how we can help audio engineers produce better sound by providing faster, more intuitive and creative control of the underlying technological advances.
Apart form that he is doing research within sonic interaction design for interactive installations.
