A descendent of the Wright Brothers, Richard Larsen began piano lessons at age 6. At 12 he performed a Schuman concerto with the Chicago Civic Orchestra and regularly gave concerts until college. He received a personal recommendation from the director of the Chicago Music Conservatory, Dr. Rudolf Ganz (Ravel, Liszt, Bartok, Cage) to further his studies in music.
Richard was FOH for the first rock opera, William Russo's Liberation. While doing shows with Muddy Waters, Richard worked at Bill Putman's Universal Recording, Chicago. He came to Los Angeles to work as a house producer at Quango Records. At KCRW (2000-2006) Richard co-produced The Blueprint weekly with Kevin Lincoln. He is now a member of UNA, a downtempo ensemble which has developed a new method of performance utilizing digital improvisation.
