Shankar Shivappa received his PhD. in signal processing from the University of California, San Diego in 2010. His thesis topic was audio-visual sensor fusion. Currently he is a researcher with the Multimedia R&D group at Qualcomm Technologies Inc, focused on 3D audio technologies. Prior to Qualcomm, Dr. Shivappa worked on audio watermarking technologies at Digimarc corporation in Portland, OR. With his background in signal processing and human perception, both audio and visual, he is now pursuing the field of virtual reality and specifically working on developing the audio technologies for VR.
