Christian R. Helmrich received a B.Sc. degree in computer science from Capitol Technology University, Laurel, MD, in 2005 and a M.Sc. degree in information and media technologies from Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), Germany, in 2008. Since then he has been working on numerous speech and audio coders for Fraunhofer IIS in Erlangen, Germany, partly as a Senior Engineer. Mr. Helmrich is currently completing a Ph.D. degree in audio analysis and coding at the International Audio Labs Erlangen, a joint institution of Fraunhofer IIS and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. His main research interests include audio and video coding as well as restoration from analog sources.
