Dr Philip Duncan BSc MAES, is a Senior lecturer in The School of Computing Science and Engineering at the University of Salford. Subject areas are Analogue Electronics, Sound Recording and Digital Signal Processing. He has significant experience in electronic system design and development in the audio industry, and also in sound recording and audio production. He has carried out research in a number if fields including recent work with a leading capacitor manufacturer to assess the performance of loudspeaker crossover components. He has also carried out research with a number of industrial collaborators involving the development of techniques for sound recognition in classification and diagnostic applications using neural networks. Prior to this he has developed advanced digital signal processing techniques including higher order spectral analysis for the analysis and diagnostics of ultrasound data and investigation of turbulence in confined Hydrogen plasma. He plays the double bass and is a keen organic gardener.
