Bruce Hofer

Primary Affiliation: Audio Precision, Inc. - Beaverton, Oregon, USA

Bruce began his career in high performance test and measurement equipment at Tektronix in 1969, a year before he graduated from Oregon State University with a BSEE. While at Tek Bruce designed a variety of equipment including time-base plugins and horizontal deflection amplifiers for the firm's "7000" series. In 1979 he joined a new group tasked with the development of the world's first totally automatic distortion analyzer, the AA501, and its companion oscillator, the SG505. In 1984 Bruce and 3 others left Tekronix to found Audio Precision where he has worked ever since. Bruce became the CEO and majority shareholder in 2001, and led AP through the development of its current generation "APx500" audio analyzer family. Just last year, AP introduced the world's lowest THD+N analyzer, the APx555, which vastly eclipses the previous standard bearer, the SYS2722. Recently, Bruce sold his share in the company, but remains active as its Chairman and a special advisor to senior management. Bruce has 13 patents, and has made numerous presentations to various AES sections around the world.
