Starting out in Chicago as a musician and composer, Brian moved to Los Angeles in the late 1970's. He began his film career at The Burbank Studios, working first on television programs, and then moving to feature films - including "On Golden Pond", "The Postman Always Rings Twice", and "Blow Out". His goal of feature film musicals began with "Staying Alive", then "Footloose", "Sweet Dreams", "Dick Tracy", and two dozen others. The last picture he worked in Hollywood was "The Big Lebowski".
He then relocated to Cairns, Queensland Australia, and has spent the last ten years working on improvements to film and television sound. In 2012 the AES started a new Technical Committee, Sound for Digital Cinema and Television, with Brian as co-chair. The Committee is working hard to apply the acoustical and psychoacoustical prowess of the AES to improving the sound for cinema and television.
