Alexander PETROVSKY received the Dipl.-Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in computer engineering from Minsk Radio-Engineering Institute, Minsk, Belarus, in 1975 and 1980, respectively, and D.Sc. degree from the Institute of Simulation Problems in Power Engineering, Academy of Science, Kiev, Ukraine, in 1989. In 1975, he joined Minsk Radio-Engineering Institute. Since May 1990, he has been Professor and Head of the Computer Engineering department, Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (former Minsk Radio-Engineering Institute), Minsk, Belarus. Recently, his research team focuses on acoustic signal processing, such as speech and audio coding, noise reduction and acoustic echo cancellation, robust speech recognition, and architecture design for real-time and computationally intensive applications. Prof Petrovsky is a member of Russian A. S. Popov Society for Radioengineering, Electronics and Communications, IEEE, EURASIP, ISCA, and an editorial staff member for the Russian journals “Digital Signal Processing”, “Speech Technology” and SPIIRAS Proceedings.
