Emily Lazar is a singer-songwriter and the frontwoman for noted heavy rock act September Mourning, who has recently recorded its major-label debut for Virgin Records. Produced by Howard Benson (Flyleaf, Adam Lambert, Chris Cornell, My Chemical Romance) and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, the upcoming LP is highly theatrical and emphasizes the concept of rock star as a comic book superhero. If Marilyn Manson and Lady Gaga had a kid, it would be September Mourning, who also cites influences as varied as David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, KISS, Evanescence and My Chemical Romance. Lazar and her collaborators see the album as just the start – “Our not-so-grim reaper sees a future of movies, TV shows, video games, animation … every different form of media.”
