Mark Torres began working for Pacifica Radio (The first community radio network in America since 1949) in 1990. He began bringing live groups up to Pacifica's Los Angeles Station KPFK 90.7 FM in 1991 first on a late night program The Fringe Element and since 1995 on his Award Winning program Travel Tips for Aztlan featuring the best in Latin Alternative music 10p-12 midnight. 5 groups to date have won Grammy Awards that had their radio debut on Travel Tips: Ozomatli, Lila Downs, Quetzal, La Santa Cecilia. Mark has invited over 500 live musical guests to perform live on KPFK.

Mark Torres has worked at The Pacifica Radio Archives since 1990 and has digitally transferred some of the great historical recordings since 1949 including Bob Dylan’s first live radio performance onWBAI NYC 1962, Miriam Makeba 1968, Tom Waits 1975, Ladysmith Black Mambazo 1988. In 2008 Mark Torres was named Front Of House Engineer for LA’s Edison Downtown Nightclub where he has served as FOH for such artists as Daniel Lanois, Beats Antique, The Raveonettes and the Joe Walsh All Star Wedding reception band (featuring members of The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen guitar player Nils Lofgren and Best Man Ringo Starr.
