John is a 38-year sound reinforcement industry veteran, and a sound-system-design & -optimization consultant. He earned a BS in Radio/TV production & engineering from Ohio University. He spent 13 years in audio system integration and 13 years in product development and dealer training for EV, TOA, and Peavey MediaMatrix.

John has been an AES member since 1980, presented two papers on speaker tuning, one published in the AES Loudspeaker Anthology. He has chaired two AES Symposiums on line arrays and sound-system-field commissioning, and is a member of the AES SC-04-08 Measurement of Sound Systems in Rooms working group.

For the NSCA, he taught several classes over the last 22 years and originated their original gain-structure and equalization classes. His DVD on levels, metering, and gain structure was their first on-line accreditation course. He is an instructor for their Mass Notification Emergency Communications (MNEC) Symposiums.

John has also taught several InfoComm classes, is adjunct faculty member, a member of their 8M-201x Audio System Spectral Balance Performance Task Group, and their International Sound System Standards Advisory Group.

He has attended dozens of SynAudCon seminars and workshops since 1979 and chaired and/or instructed at several, including the ECS Speech Intelligibility and EQ07 Workshops.
