Jan Nordmann is Sr. Director Business Development, New Media at Fraunhofer USA’s Digital Media Technologies division. Based out of San Jose, CA, he’s in charge of relationships and product strategy in the online media industry. His responsibilities include market development, product marketing and licensing for perceptual audio codecs and related technologies including audio post-processing and streaming. He’s addressing the markets for audio and video streaming/download, mobile entertainment and content creation globally with a clear focus on North America. Jan is a member of the marketing committee of the DASH Industry Forum, that’s supporting the adaption of the MPEG-DASH Standard for Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP by defining implementation and interoperability guidelines for use by broadcasters, service providers and device makers. Jan also represents Fraunhofer in DECE, the WiFi Alliance and other application standard bodies. Prior to his engagement at Fraunhofer USA, he was running the marketing and PR team at Fraunhofer IIS, the home of mp3, AAC and latest generation audio codecs such as MPEG-H. Jan has a Master in Applied Media Science from the Technical University Ilmenau, Germany. He loves to travel and is a passionate photographer.
