John oversees projects at NPR Labs, which develops and evaluates new technologies, procedures and standards on behalf of public radio. He has published numerous studies in RF engineering, psycho-acoustic tests and audio systems.
He joined NPR in 1980 as a Senior Engineer, leaving in 1987 to become a consultant in broadcast engineering, cellular networks and FCC regulations. He returned to NPR in 2004 as NPR Labs was established.
John is a Past President of the IEEE Broadcast Symposium, and contributing author to The NAB Engineering Handbook, Editions 7, 8 and 9. He is a past president of the Washington DC Section of the AES.
