Michael Godwin (B.A.) has been the Technical Officer and Media Specialist at the University of Western Ontario, Don Wright Faculty of Music for over 25 years. As Manager of Technology and the Recording Studio, he is responsible for and records, mixes and masters many of the over 300 concerts, performances, auditions, competition recordings, archival CDs and DVDs annually, along with numerous CD projects and releases. Mr. Godwin is an active member of the Audio Engineering Society and regularly attends conventions and conferences in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Banff. He is passionate about providing opportunities for new professionals, which led him to be a co-founder the Student Section of the AES in London, Ontario. Mr. Godwin continues to provide numerous University lectures about new audio technologies, delivery models, sound recording processes, and current studio practices and has taught Sound Recording courses through Continuing Studies at the University of Western Ontario. Mr. Godwin’s research interests include surround sound recording techniques, perception, and application. His most recent research interest involves the integration of music technology with music education which has resulted in the development of a new 'app'.
