Kaoru WATANABE received his M.E. degree from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, and joined NHK in 1981. He has been engaged in sound broadcasting systems as a research engineer at Science and Technology Research Labs of NHK, and is a co-chair of Rapporteur Group of advanced multichannel sound technology of ITU-R. In 2014 he joined ARIB, which is a Standards Development Organization (SDO) in the field of radio communication and broadcasting in Japan.
