Kentaro Matsui joined Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK: Nippon Hoso Kyoukai in Japanese ) in 1998. He has been working at the NHK Science and Technology Research Laboratories since 2001. He is now engaged in the research of 22.2 multichannel sound system for Super Hi-Vision, an ultra high-definition TV, particularly the research of binaural rendering of 22.2 multichannel sound with smaller number of loudspeakers for home use. His research interests include audio signal processing, the measurement and application of head-related transfer functions (HRTFs), and spatial audio reproduction.
