John Grant chairs AES Standards Subcommittee SC-02 (Digital Audio). He has been working with computing systems for longer than he cares to remember, and began developing networking systems in 1981, moving on to networks that carry video in the 1990s and audio at the beginning of this century. This has given him an insight into the advantages of networked systems, but also the different requirements of IT, for which current networking systems were designed, and AV, for which they are now beginning to be used.
