Five-time Grammy winner Bruce Swedien's career in music recording began with the music of the post-swing era and continues through today's multi-media digital technology. His first studio job was with Schmitt Music in Minneapolis which led to the transformation of an old movie theater on Nicollet Avenue into a recording studio. That studio, Creation Audio, is still in operation today. RCA offered him a job in Chicago and the rest is history.

First publicly recognized in 1962 with a Grammy nomination for Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons' Big Girls Don't Cry, Bruce went on to record and mix Michael Jackson's Thriller, the best-selling album in the history of recorded music. Bruce has been nominated for a total of thirteen Grammy Awards and won five: Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Bad and Dangerous and Quincy Jones’ Back on the Block and Jook Joint. . He has also been awarded 10 Grammy certificates, two ASCAP composer Awards and has been nominated for five TEC Awards. In 2001, Bruce was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Luleå University of Technology in Luleå, Sweden, presented under ruling of King Carl XVI Gustav.

The list of artists he has recorded reads like a Who’s Who in music: Oscar Peterson, Woody Herman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Dizzie Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Barbra Streisand, The Chi-Lites, Eddie Harris, Chaka Khan, Donna Summer, Buddy Miles, Jackie Wilson, Jennifer Lopez, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, George Benson, Roberta Flack, Lena Horne, Phil Ford and Mimi Hines, Tommy Dorsey, Dinah Shore, Diana Ross, Herbie Hancock, Edie Gorme, Sergio Mendes and many more. His movie credits include Night Shift, The Color Purple, The Wiz and Running Scared.

Next April Bruce will celebrate the start of his eighth decade and he is still rocking. He just celebrated sixty years of wedded bliss to his loving and supportive wife, Bea, his masterclass series “In the Studio with Bruce Swedien” is ongoing in his studio in Florida, he joined Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton and Siedah Garrett in Dubai, U.A.E. in September of this year as a member of “The Dream Team”, talking about producing Thriller and his third and forthcoming book from the Hal Leonard Publishing Group, “The Bruce Swedien Recording Method” will be released in October of this year.
