In many aspects of music production, Lawrence Manchester is equally comfortable: whether he is recording a Hollywood film score with a 90-piece orchestra for a Martin Scorsese masterpiece, tracking vocals with Beyonce, engineering the Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark cast album for Bono & The Edge, "Slow Jamming The News" with President Obama, or mixing The Roots in 5.1 surround sound to a live TV audience of millions.
To date, this Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer/mixer has engineered the scores for three Academy Award-winning films: The Departed, Frida, and The Red Violin. He has also collaborated with some of today's most accomplished composers (Danny Elfman, Carter Burwell, Marc Shaiman, Elliot Goldenthal, Howard Shore) and finest directors (Ang Lee, Julie Taymor, Robert De Niro, The Coen Brothers). His Gold & Platinum records include John Fogerty's The Long Road Home, Nikki Yanofsky's Nikki, and the soundtrack to the movie musical, Across The Universe.
Recent opportunities include serving as the Supervising Music Producer for Richard LaGravenese's film adaption of Jason Robert Brown's musical The Last Five Years, mixing the Original London Cast Recording of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, mixing songs for season two of SMASH, and recording and mixing the cast album for the TONY Award-winning revival of Pippin.
Lawrence is also the music mixer for NBC's Emmy-nominated Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and co-producer of Jimmy's Grammy-winning comedy album, Blow Your Pants Off. On the show he's mixed live performances by Prince, Beastie Boys, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, Green Day, Justin Timberlake, Motorhead, Keith Urban, Public Enemy, Dave Matthews Band, Bon Iver, My Morning Jacket, and The Muppets.
In the studio, Lawrence has engineered records for Grammy-winning producers Phil Ramone, Steve Lillywhite, T Bone Burnett, and Jack Douglas and recorded some of the most varied artists of our time including Diana Krall, Anna Kendrick, Sondre Lerche, Art Garfunkel, Regina Spektor, Ron Cater, Patti LuPone, R. Kelly, and Katherine McPhee. As a producer, Lawrence has worked with Michael Moore, Kelli O'Hara, Sutton Foster, and Stephen Schwartz.
Originally from Maine and a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Lawrence's work has taken him around the world from Los Angeles to Kiev, Paris to Bangkok, Amsterdam to Quito, Melbourne to London, and Sao Paulo to Prague, while making New York City his home.
