John Dawson graduated from Trinity College Cambridge in 1971 with a first class degree in Natural Sciences. Whilst continuing his studies he founded A & R Cambridge (later ARCAM) in 1972, initially making amplifiers for friends and undertaking various consultancy projects for professional audio companies.
ARCAM's first hi-fi product, the A60 integrated amplifier, was launched in 1976; over 32,000 were sold over the next 10 years. ARCAM has designed and made its own world class CD players, DVD players, DAB tuners and AV receivers. Now semi retired he is back in product design and engineering and having lots of fun!
