Alex Reed is the author of the books Assimilate: A Critical History of Industrial Music and Flood. In addition to writing about classical and popular music of the last hundred years, he is an active musician and recording artist. He earned a Ph.D. in music theory and composition from the University of Pittsburgh, and has taught at New York University, the College of William and Mary, and the University of Florida. He is currently on faculty at Ithaca College.
