TT3 - Palace of Arts, Béla Bartók Concert Hall—Architecture, Acoustics
Abstract:
It is a special privilege that Palace of Arts will be introduced by its architect himself, Mr. Gábor Zoboki on this technical tour. Hungary’s National Concert Hall, designed with the feel of a Gothic cathedral, is located at the heart of the new Palace of Arts. The quality of the acoustics are guaranteed by the outstanding work of Russell Johnson, a top specialist who conducted well over fifty years of research in this field and participated in the construction of several top opera houses and concert halls. His work in Budapest was characterized by his close cooperation with the architect, the contractor, and leading Hungarian musicians. There was a special isolation technique applied at the front of the complex so that no vibration or noise can be felt or heard inside the Concert Hall. The Hall features variable acoustics, achieved by openable reverberator chambers. Its Studios will be only briefly showed on this tour.
Capacity limited to 25 persons.
Price: 15 Euro
