Methods for the reliable subjective and objective evaluation of surround sound reproduction are at a relatively early stage of their development, but such methods are needed if one is to be able to conduct credible comparisons of spatially enhanced audio systems and recording techniques. Panelists described work in progress with the intention of encouraging discussion about the most suitable attributes, elicitation methods, and measurement techniques for this task.
