AUDIO ENGINEERING SOCIETY TO PRESENT SONGWRITER SHOWCASE AT 111TH CONVENTION
"The Songwriters Showcase Is a Means of Acknowledging the Song as a Key Element in the Motivation for Technological Advancements in Audio." NEW YORK, November 7, 2001-The Audio Engineering Society presented "It's All About the Song" Songwriters Showcase, November 30 - December 3, during the 111th Convention at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Live performances took place in the convention center's South Concourse. The event marks the second time the AES incorporated live original music into its regular convention programming. "The Songwriters Showcase is a means of acknowledging the song as a key element in the motivation for technological advancements in audio," says Claudia Koal, 111th convention committee music chair, and New York City based producer of concerts and award shows for broadcast and webcast. "We are especially pleased with the roster of performers, which includes international composers and songwriters, some of whom are Grammy winners." The event was co-sponsored by Steinway, and featured a wide spectrum of musical genres. Members of ASCAP, BMI and SESAC performd original works at daily performances, which begin each hour at 11:00 AM and end at 6:00PM. Among those scheduled to perform are:
