Since the early 1980's I have been active in the audio, first in the live sound touring industry, now in consulting and contracting.
I am a second generation AES member, having followed my dad´s footsteps.
I served two terms as Vice-President Latin American Region, am a former Chair and currently Treasurer of the AES Brazil Section, having helped organize our meetings and conventions since 2001.
A member of standards committees in the AES and currently Secretary for CE-03_100_01 Audio,video multimedia systems and equipments for ABNT, the brazilian national standards body.
In March 2019, at the AES Dublin International Convention I was honored with AES Fellowship.
In 2010, Joel Vieira de Brito was presented with the AES Board of Governors Award in recognition of chairing the AES Latin American Conference on “Audio for HDTV and Beyond” in Sao Paulo, May 26 – 28, 2009.
In 2019, Joel Brito was presented with the AES Fellowship Award for advancing the audio industry in Brazil and Latin America through decades of broad contributions to the Society.

Several specializations, such as: Noise Control, Sound System Design, Digital Audio Networks and others.
I'm involved with the AES because it helps keep me updated to what's happening in the world of audio. It's also been an opportunity to meet people who share the same interests in audio I have.
