CAT4 - SOUND FOR VISUAL MEDIA


Richard King holds a bachelor of music from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia (1987), and a master of music with a major in sound recording from McGill University (1991). After 15 years with Sony Music Studios in New York and a successful independent recording business started in 2007, Grammy award-winning recording engineer Richard King has a new position as associate professor at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal. He continues his freelance recording work, on a smaller scale, with Sony Classical, Decca, EMI, Nonesuch, and various film companies such as Fox Searchlight and Paramount. He is the audio consultant to the David H. Koch Theatre, which houses the New York City Ballet and City Opera. Richard is a frequent AES panelist, and he workshops with various university level recording programs on a regular basis.
