Mixing across the board was a benefit that honored engineer and audio professional Roger Nichols. The event began with a presentation outlining Roger's career and many innovations. A video featuring clips from different award ceremonies and commentaries from various artist's he had worked with was then shown. After the opening of the event Jim Anderson spoke about how Roger's innovations had "saved jazz." Jim's presentation included detailed information and pictures about Roger's invention the Wendell and Wendell Jr. Jim also played several listening examples for the audience. Following Jim's presentation was Ed Seay speaking on "the anatomy of a mix." Ed broke down the various aspects of mixing as well as presented different styles and techniques used in the process. Ed also played several listening examples for the audience. The end of the event featured a discussion panel consisting of Jim Anderson, Ed Seay, Phil Tan, and Rick Sheppard. Topics for the panel included technology in mixing, techniques used, playback systems, and personal preferences. The panel was moderated by AES Atlanta committee member Jamie Roop.
