Meeting Topic: Hearing acuity in the time domain; broadband design of audio systems.
Moderator Name: Marco Re, Francesco Passarelli
Speaker Name: Eric Blackmer (Earthworks)
Other business or activities at the meeting: a presentation of AES to non members before the conference, held by Simone Corelli (AES Italy advisory board)
Meeting Location: Rome (Italy), University of Rome "Tor Vergata"
The seminar has revisited several of David Blackmer's avancements in the field of audio engineering. David has been an American electronics engineer, AES Fellow and IEEE life member. He founded the companies dbx and Earthworks, and has invented the dbx noise reduction system.
Eric Blackmer has elucidated his father's insights on the human ear ability to perceive an extended spectrum, beyond the traditional audio bandwidth, as well significant acuity in the time domain. He has shown how these aspects have lead to new broadband design techniques for top-level audio systems. Currently Eric Blackmer works at Earthworks, pursuing the innovative ideas of his father David.
