The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts, located on the University of Denver campus officially opened in the fall of 2002. The 183,000 square foot Newman Center is home to several performance and rehearsal venues and the Lamont School of Music. Our tour will explore the technical design and operational aspects of the 950-seat Gates Hall as well as Studios A and B which serve Lamont's Audio Production and Recording program. Tim Gulsrud, Principal of Soundpost Acoustics, LLC, will lead the tour and discuss acoustical aspects of the building design. Garret Glass is Assistant Director of Production Services at the Newman Center and will guide us through operational and technical aspects of Gates Hall. Michael Schulze is Professor of Audio Production & Recording Technology at the Lamont School of Music and will discuss audio production facilities and activities in the building. We will meet in the main plaza to begin the tour and then meet for drinks and socializing immediately following the tour at The Pioneer Bar adjacent to the parking garage.. Paid visitor parking is available in the Newman Center parking gararge. The Newman Center parking garage is located 1 block south of the Newman Center (University & Wesley.)
