Camilo Silva F : Mastering engineer and pro audio equipment designer and builder. Camilo's self-taught career starts in high school (circa '94) when he, as drummer for many of his bands also discovered his love for recording, using 4-track and 8-track portastudios to get his band's demos recordings. He also discovered his love for mastering early on, intrigued by the different stages of the music production chain and how they appeared in album liner notes. Camilo's first commercially available releases dates from 2002 when he was working for one of the most revered studios in Bogotá, Colombia, "El Estudio Ltda" , later renamed to "Galiano Producciones". He realized that spending a long time inside the recording studio honing his listening skills was a mandatory step towards a full-time audio mastering career so with that in mind, he pursued the next step in his career.
In 2004 he moved to the legendary Estudios Audiovision also in Bogotá where he spent 10 years as recording / mixing / mastering guy and also as a studio tech working for the top acts in the country and being awarded two times with the Latin Grammy award alongside many nominations.
In 2013 he opened his own mastering facility, "Camilo Silva F Mastering", equipped not only with top-notch analog and digital technology but also with Camilo's own designs including his all-tube digital-to-analog converters. An electronics DIY diehard, Camilo loves to build, modify and blow stuff up ! Some of his stock pieces are also modified to extract the last drop of performance from them.
Since 2013, Camilo's mastered more than 200 full-length albums and thousands of singles averaging at 1400 songs/year for the 2018-2019 period. Five albums mastered at Camilo Silva F Mastering have been nominated for the Latin Grammy award, one of them winner in 2018 (Claraluna's "Imaginaré").
Camilo has recorded, mixed or mastered for artists like Carlos Vives, Andres Cepeda, Shallow Side, Morat, Ventino, Claraluna, Aitana, Alkilados, Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Telebit, as well as Latin Grammy nominees Colectro, LosPetitFellas, Doctor Krapula among hundreds of artists from all around the globe.
Camilo loves to share his deep knowledge in advanced and unusual mastering and dynamics processing techniques in his masterclasses and lectures. Also, his "Dual All-Discrete" mic preamplifier design has become a staple in the local recording community and there's quite a lot of this units on USA, Europe and Central / Latin America
