Lidia Alvarez Morales

Primary Affiliation: Department of Theatre, Film and Television, University of York - York, North Yorkshire, UK

Lidia is currently working as a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of York. Her project ‘Cathedral Acoustics’, aims to preserve the acoustics of English cathedrals, by characterising their acoustic behaviour through impulse response measurements as well as by recreating their sound environment throughout history using computer models. Lidia’s pathway to the acoustic and sound engineering began at the University of Malaga (Spain) with a degree in telecommunication engineering with specialisation in image and sound. She further focused on acoustic engineering with a Master’s degree in Architectural Acoustics at the University of Granada (Spain). Lidia’s background in the field continued growing through her participation for more than 7 years in several multidisciplinary research projects on the acoustics of heritage buildings developed in the Architecture School of the University of Seville (Spain). As part of her dissertation on the acoustic study of large places of worship, Lidia spent two research periods abroad: at the University of Bari (Italy) and at the Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge (UK) where she was closely working with specialists in acoustics analysis, virtual acoustics and sound design.
