Dave Gross is an audio engineer, composer, producer, musician, sound designer and all around audio nerd. Currently, he owns his own company, Helldog Music, as well as being the Lead Audio Post Production Engineer at Microsoft Production Studios.
Dave received a Grammy certificate in 2015 as collaborator/participant, producer/engineer/keyboardist on the 2015 Best New Age Album winner, “Winds of Samsara” by Ricky Kej and Wouter Kellerman. He is currently the Vice President of the Pacific NW Chapter of The Recording Academy, and is currently the Co-Chair of the P&E Wing Committee for the Chapter.
Dave co-wrote and produced 3 albums for the 5Alarm Music Library and Frameworks Libraries, and currently still contributes as a composer to other production music libraries. He also was the principal sound designer for the User Interface Sound Schemes that shipped with Microsoft’s Windows 7 OS. In addition, as a sound designer, he created the first of its kind series of SFX libraries called ‘The Big Whoosh” for Sound Ideas, a set of disks specializing in ‘transition sound effects”.
He began his career in the mid 70’s thru late 80’s as a keyboard player in a touring Top 40 band, learning all the new synth technology as it arrived. Moog, Oberheim, Yamaha, MIDI, the advent of DAW’s and Sequencers frequently crossed his path, on stage and off.
Studio recording, composition for TV commercials and jingles, and sound design shortly followed into the early 90’s and continue today as a Audio Post Production mixer for Microsoft Production Studios.
