AES New York 2018 Presenter or Author
Alex Trajano
Primary Affiliation: Audible - Detroit, MI, USA
Alex Trajano started his love affair with audio when he bought the first commercially available 4-track cassette recorder – The Fostex F-15. He skipped school a lot in those days to record his band and the bands of many friends, which led to playing shows in Detroit bars. Years later, Alex became a working musician traveling around the world and staying active in the Detroit music scene as a drummer and bass player. As owner of Thrilla Park Studios, Trajano recorded and/or produced records for regional artists to Iggy Pop and The Stooges. He went onto engineer and mix radio and TV spots for major post houses in the Detroit area. Later, he worked in broadcasting as the Associate Director of Production and Content for NPR affiliate WDET which led to multiple awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters as well as hosting the Moth Story Slams and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s webcast, “Live From Orchestra Hall”. In 2015, Alex launched an acclaimed podcast of his own called, “The Beginning of the End” which led to being recruited by Audible Originals as a sound designer where he recently won a Gracie award for his work on Sincerely X, a collection of anonymous Ted Talks. A recent work of note is Making of a Massacre where he composed, performed the score in addition to sound design and final mix.
